St. Anton

St. Anton looks expectantly into the future: In the year 2001, the community will play host to the Alpine World Championships. It promises to be a banner year for the quirky resort town, which calls itself a WELTDORF (world village) with more than a touch of self-irony. Home to a professional ski scene since 1921, St. Anton is an Alpine cross-roads: The Paris-Zurich-Vienna express train stops here, as do 27 other intereuropean rail lines. In St. Anton, you find international flair with a friendly touch: the small, quaint pedestrian zone bustles actively every afternoon. In winter, snowboarders and skiers stomp to their favourite pubs for happy hour, where they park their boards in front of the door and rejuvenate themselves with ice cold drinks or warm coffee and fritters. In summer, the street becomes an international boulevard. St. Anton exudes relaxation and joie de vivre - a reason for young sports fans and family travellers to return again and again to the idyllic place that holds onto its tradition and charm: St. Anton conservatively preserves what it is. No additional lifts, but existing facilities are constantly being improved. Class over mass, quality over quantity.
